Afaf is a Palestinian artist who was attracted to art as a young child, when she would try to draw the jasmine tree which climbed all the way from her father's Diwan to the first floor of the house.
She received her secondary education in Jerusalem and was later awarded a three years scholarship for study of art and art education at Bath Academy in Britain.
She also obtained another scholarship for the same subject at the University of Tennessee in the United States, where she was awarded a master's degree with honor. Her years of study in the west made it possible for her to visit some of the most important museums in the Western Europe, the United States, and the Middle East.

Neither Afaf's responsibility for the subject of art at the Jordan Ministry of education nor later as an International UNESCO specialist in the host countries prevented her from practicing art in oil, collage and water color. The latter, known to be very challenging, yet intrigued her because of its transparency and delicate beauty. As evident in her pictures the Palestinian countryside figures prominently in her work. So does the old city of Nablus with its sad neighborhoods "Harat" which have suffered much of damage lately. Other pictures display the splendor of Palestinian heritage whether in costume or architecture.

Afaf held a number of solo exhibitions in Nablus, Jerusalem and Amman. She also participated with other artists in exhibitions aboard. She received award from Kuwait, the Jordanian Artists Association, the Jordan Ministry of Education, and last but not least, Nablus Municipality. She also represented Jordan at a number of art conferences, including the international Art Conference of Amsterdam, 1969.
Finally, her pictures are possessed by a number of individuals and also instructions chief among which are Nablus Municipality, the national museum, the Central bank and the Ministry of information in Amman. Copy right for these paintings is reserved for The Cultural Heritage Enrichment Center. Revenue will be made to support cultural activities for the population of the old city of Nablus.
