The first edition of the graphic novel was developed over the course of 2011. Building upon a highly successful pilot project from 2009, the project was expanded (with the assistance of funding from Kerk in Actie, a Dutch NGO) to enable the participation of 14 student instructors and 131 schoolchildren. University student instructors contributed written material, assisted in the editing of the Graphic Novel and taught schoolchildren classes. The instructors subsequently taught (in the latter half of 2011) in locations as diverse as Nablus, Salfit, Tulkarm and Jerusalem.
The second edition began in 2012, as originally planned, but its publication was held up over the course of the year, due to difficulties in the scheduling of classes and arranging a final exhibition (which was not held until May 2013). As with the preceding edition, 14 student instructors taught schoolchildren within a range of community centres across the West Bank. A lower number of schoolchildren (47) were enrolled for the teaching of this edition, something which was attributable both to more selective selection criteria and difficulties in class scheduling. In addition to the previously cited teaching locations, student instructors also taught schoolchildren in both Jenin and Qalqilya.
