First Edition
The first edition of the graphic novel was developed over the course of 2011. Building upon a highly successful pilot project from 2009, the project was expanded (with the assistance of funding from Kerk in Actie, a Dutch NGO) to enable the participation of 14 student instructors and 131 schoolchildren. University student instructors contributed written material, assisted in the editing of the Graphic Novel and taught schoolchildren classes. The instructors subsequently taught (in the latter half of 2011) in locations as diverse as Nablus, Salfit, Tulkarm and Jerusalem.

Second Edition
The second edition began in 2012, as originally planned, but its publication was held up over the course of the year, due to difficulties in the scheduling of classes and arranging a final exhibition (which was not held until May 2013). As with the preceding edition, 14 student instructors taught schoolchildren within a range of community centres across the West Bank. A lower number of schoolchildren (47) were enrolled for the teaching of this edition, something which was attributable both to more selective selection criteria and difficulties in class scheduling. In addition to the previously cited teaching locations, student instructors also taught schoolchildren in both Jenin and Qalqilya.

Third Edition
Due to the difficulties encountered over the course of the preceding year, all stages of the third edition were set back by several months. Development of this edition took place over 2013. As a consequence of a sustained level of interest in the course (roughly one in every three applicants was accepted onto the university-level course), 16 student instructors were enrolled. The number of schoolchildren participants roughly remained at the level of the previous edition (50), again largely for similar reasons. The graphic novel project came to a close with the final exhibition on February 2014. The publication of the final edition is still in progress; further details about this edition (or any of the preceding editions of the graphic novel) can be obtained from This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
